Teaching & Training
Welcome to my Teaching & Training Portfolio! For me, teaching is more than just a job—it's a collaboration where learning flows both ways. Whether I’m breaking down the complexities of linguistic theory, teaching technology basics, or guiding students through immersive language experiences, I’ve found that the most rewarding moments come when I learn just as much from those I teach as they do from me. Every classroom, workshop, and training session is a chance to connect, share knowledge, and grow together. This page offers a snapshot of that journey, reflecting not just what I’ve taught, but how these experiences have shaped my own understanding.

Exploring My Teaching Experiences
University Teaching: Empathy and Flexibility in Action...
During my university teaching, I worked closely with a student who was struggling to balance coursework, multiple jobs, and family responsibilities. I created a flexible learning plan with adjusted deadlines and tailored support, enabling them to catch up and graduate on time.
This experience underscored the importance of mentorship, individualized learning strategies, and performance tracking, and it strengthened my commitment to student-centered teaching. It also sharpened skills I now apply in training and research environments: adaptability, problem-solving, and supporting diverse learners in achieving long-term goals.
K-12 Teaching: Creativity, Culture, and Gamified Learning...
In my K–12 classrooms, I prioritized active, creative learning environments where students felt supported and motivated. I integrated gamified learning tools like Duolingo & Quizlet challenges to boost vocabulary retention, designed cultural projects (e.g., building a Costa Rican house plan in Spanish), and embedded technology integration to make lessons relevant and engaging.
Former students later credited my teaching with shaping their academic paths, reflecting my focus on adaptability, mentorship, and cross-cultural communication. These experiences taught me how to meet learners where they are and translate complex material into accessible, meaningful lessons—skills I carry into workshops, training sessions, and collaborative projects today.

One of my favorite courses to teach was ‘Say What? This course helped students see language as a powerful tool in understanding society, which is crucial in any field.

Training & Collaboration: From Local to Global Events
Throughout my career, I’ve embraced opportunities to collaborate with other educators and professionals, whether at a local or international level.
As a high school teacher, I co-organized a statewide Spanish convention that brought together students and teachers for workshops, competitions, and cultural exchange—an experience that honed my skills in curriculum planning, event logistics, and collaboration.
Later, at Boston University, I co-organized the Boston University Conference on Language Development (BUCLD), an international conference hosting hundreds of linguists. When COVID-19 forced us to transition online, I coordinated workflows, trained team members on virtual platforms, and managed stakeholder communication. In a matter of months, we delivered a fully virtual conference that maintained high engagement and earned praise for its seamless execution.
These experiences highlight not only my ability to manage complex projects and events, but also my adaptability in the face of unexpected challenges—skills I bring to both academic and industry contexts.
